As well as being one of the fastest growing industries in the UK, it is the largest employment sector of the North East of England, with demand for both health and social care employees continually rising. Health and Social Care professionals work alongside each other and service users to enhance the quality of life for the population of the country. There is approximately 3 million people currently employed within the sector. Health and Social Care accounts for nearly 1 in 10 paid jobs in the UK.
The study of Health and Social Care at Key stage 4 will compliment GCSE study through providing an opportunity for practical application alongside conceptual study. There are also strong opportunities for post-16 progression in this sector.
