At St Bede’s Catholic School & Byron Sixth Form, we are exceptionally proud of the outcomes that the pupils in our care achieve. These outcomes are the product of great teaching, a challenging, ambitious curriculum, supportive families and bespoke support.
One of our most effective, and popular, academic support programmes is STEP (Support Towards Enhanced Progress) which operates for Year 11 as a small group, with additional tuition taking place at lunchtime or after school (until 16:15). The support of parents and carers is crucial in ensuring the success of this programme and therefore we advise parents and carers to use the following timetable to cross-reference their child’s Pupil Reference Number (available on the STEP parental letter) with the subjects they are signed up for. In our view, the best outcomes for our pupils are non-negotiable and therefore STEP is compulsory for pupils to attend – we know that every minute spent with expert teachers, pays off significantly in exams and life after school.
