Event Overview
On Monday 9th March, all Year 7 and 8 students will take part in a series of engaging activities to mark International Women’s Day. This year, our focus is on celebrating pioneering women in STEM, recognising their remarkable contributions to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Throughout the day, students will participate in workshops delivered by the Science, Maths, Art, History, and Geography departments, each highlighting inspirational women who have shaped their fields. As part of our careers provision, students will also explore career pathways linked to STEM, broadening their understanding of future opportunities.
Why Is This Important?
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Observed annually on 8th March, IWD also acts as a powerful call to action for progress toward gender equality.
It is one of the most significant days of the year to:
- celebrate women’s achievements
- educate and raise awareness about women’s equality
- call for positive change to advance women
- lobby for accelerated gender parity
Our school’s activities help students reflect on these themes while recognising the impact of women across history and contemporary society.
