Date: Tuesday 27th January 2026
Location: St. Bede’s Catholic School

On Holocaust Memorial Day, all Year 9 students will take part in a series of activities designed to reflect on this important moment in history. These include:

  • A special assembly.
  • Listening to survivor testimony.
  • Participating in interactive workshops.

Why is it Important?

Holocaust Memorial Day is a national day of remembrance held on 27 January. We commemorate the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions more persecuted under Nazi rule. It is also a time to reflect on other genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Prejudice and discrimination still exist today, and this day reminds us of the importance of standing against hatred in all its forms.

Benefits for Students

  • Listening to a survivor’s testimony.
  • Embedding British values.
  • Linking to the Year 9 History curriculum.
